Ok guys. I've seen a lot of wonderful posts and pics on here involving khukris. I'm interested in where I can get a good quality model for a reasonable price. Actually, I guess my biggest concern is to get one with a durable sheath and quality grip. I found a site that sells imported models and such but, I don't like the traditional grips or sheaths. I'm hoping for something with a rubberized grip but, I also want to stick with something that has more of the tradition 3/8" or thicker blade. If anyone's got any ideas on the khukri issue let me know...thanks.

Himalayan Imports or Tora are the best kukris out there. They have traditional grips and sheaths. Try them, you might be surprised at how well they work, they're made that way for a reason. Remember, they have several hundred years of refinement. HI has a forum over on bladeforums, and often have deals of the day, where you can ofen pick up a model at substantially reduced rates.
The ones with rubberized grips and such -- from the likes of Cold Steel, Ka-Bar and S&W are KLOs -- Kukri Like Objects, or bent machetes. They work alright as. . .bent machetes, but can't do what a true kukri can do.

Good point Magnum. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and shell out for the Himalayan Imports Chiruwa Ang Khola. Thanks much.

If you want modern, go to Cold Steel.
