This is my Rock Island U.S. Rifle M1903 made around 1920. Rifles serial numbers fall in the improved heat treatment started around serial no. 285507. Introduction of nickel steel started at 319921. This rifle was re-worked for WWII and has the S.A. barrel dated August of 1942. As far as I can tell the rest of the rifle is Rock Island.
