What is your favorite RIMFIRE OR CENTERFIRE?
Simple question:

What is your favorite type of shooting, shooting RIMFIRE or shooting CENTERFIRE?
|
I guess I have to say that mine is RIMFIRE. Heck I even get most of my centerfire ammo for free, virtually all the 9mm and .38 I want along with a lot of .223, .45, .380, .357; and even though I get a lot of free centerfire ammo - NOTHING IN THE SHOOTING WORLD THAT I HAVE EVER SHOT BEATS A DAY OF FUN SHOOTING .22LR RIMFIRE ROUNDS (and I do mean within reason and from what is available commercially to all of us - just to point out we are not talking cannons, machine guns, nuclear weapons or things like that - although they may be lots of fun too).
Best regards,

I would have to go with centerfire myself. Since I reload, I look at every shot giving me another piece of brass that I can now reload...
Besides, I like making BIG holes in paper.

Rimfire, you can shoot the .22 all day and not go broke doing it. Plus after a day of shooting it, your shoulder is still in one piece

I had to go with centerfire. Not that I don't love shooting the 10/22, but I like the seeing the results of the "bigger" guns.

Rimfire for me!
I shoot a LOT of rimfire benchrest (USBR & ARA targets mostly) also building a silhouette gun for Sporter Class.
I reload for centerfire rifle and pistol, but in number of rounds expended and $ spent for ammo, rimfire triples everything else.

Try fighting a war with rimfire.

The rimfire round is responsible for many deaths in battles throughout its history. Then again no on was asking about your favorite round for warfare, or even your favorite type of round - although I am always open to other's opinions; all I was asking was just which type you prefer to shoot. In your case I am guessing that is centerfire. If I were to follow your advice, which I like, of:

|
then I would use whatever weapon was at hand in a life threatening fight and that would include a rimfire although I would prefer a modern centerfire in a larger caliber than my favorite the 22LR. However when shooting for the fun of it - and yes it can be quite a bit of fun - I much prefer .22LR to anything else, especially if out shooting a few bricks in a day. I also like centerfire rounds quite a lot. As a matter of fact today is my range day, so I think I will have had enough "talking" so to write, and I will be off to shoot quite soon. Have a happy and enjoy safe shooting.....

I too voted rimfire.
Like Kenster said, you can shoot for hours on end w/o getting tired or going broke.
When I bought my Ruger MKII this summer I made sure to pick up extra mags.Long story short,I now have two MKIIs & ten magazines! I shoot until one barrel gets too hot to hold & then switch to the other for a while.
Fun stuff!

Rimfire. I shoot probably 30 or 40 to 1, rimfire vs. centerfire.
I plan to widen that margin even further when my suppressed MkII gets released to me.
(I sent the paperwork in, back in May... )
