Know why it'sbetter to put a pin in full cock

notch of exposed hammers,(to reduce sear engagement) than to shave off the front of said notch?)

Probably because the pin is less likely to wear and won't change sear angle.

nope, if you cut off too much of the pin, you just end up with your original trigger pull, all you have to do is installl another pin and file it back a bit less. If you shave off too much of the hammer's full cock notch, rendering it unable to stay cocked as it should, you need a new hammer.
