Question What Is This?

I've had it for years. purchased pretty much the same condtion you see in a box of auction goodies over 20 years ago.

Made by J. Rodgers and Sons, Sheffeild England and has a hard rubber grip with chekering.

Sheath is old and hardened leather with 2 metal rivets that probably held a thin leather strip to seve as a belt loop.

Style looks kinda Finnish any ideas?

ED after drawing on my years of learning and my advanced degree in knifeolgy. that has to be beyond a shadow of dought and without any exception ---- taa daaa ------ its an old knife. the way i knew it was a knife was because you said so. the way i know its old, is i'm old. hard to tell so many trade knifes have been made ove the years, i have a couple that there origins are far from anyones ability to figure out. you mite get lucky and someone will know exactly who made it and when, but lets face it, its an old knife with a shaded past, most likely never to be identified by any man, and or woman. good luck though.

Yep I agree it's a dang old knife.

My best guess is a Puukko style knife but made with a bit of British influence, considering the maker.

I'm making an educated guess that they made it for export to Finland.

Until they started with knife restrictions in Finland this style was kinda akin to the common folding hunter type knives here that everyone carries.

Just a plain old small utility blade for doing what knives do best, cutting stuff.

Generally speaking, if it's pointy, sharp, and has a handle, it could be a sword, a bayonet, or a knife. If the blade isn't hugely long, then it falls into the bayonet / knife category. If the handle lacks any appreciable places to hang it on a fire arm, then you probably have a knife.

My considered (smart ass opinion) is that you have a knife. And it appears to have a fixed blade on it too, so it is not a folding knife.
