can you imagine what people would think of an autoloader that was ruined every time the slide locked back or a mag was inserted? Revolvers are a smaller % of handguns made every year and a big chunk of them are SA's, for the plinker crowd. A 586 smith is $800 by the time you pay the tax on it a Model 29 is $1200 and tax. my god. And what do you get for the money,, hmm? inferior performance and much less durability than a good autoloader.

a plain jane m10 is over $800 by the time you pay the tax. I can get a Filpino made 1911, with all the bells and whistles, for $500, or could before the virus, at least. it's easily twice the gun a M10 is. So one of these days, smith is going to drop revolvers, and Ruger might do the same. All you'lll have is Taurus and Rossi as "options.

a good first hit from a revolver is every bit as good as a good first hit from an autoloader.

was at a gun range with a friend of mine, I rented a full auto MP-5 for him to play with. Range rules were we had to have a range master present while shooting full-auto. No big deal.
so once they figured out my friend was good, the RM saw I had a S&W 5-25 in .45 (long) Colt. he set up a challenge for me. from low ready, he was going to "home" the target I had to put as many rounds as possible on target before it reached me.

We did it from 21 ft, to simulate a knife attack.

I put all 5 center mass before it reached me.
He basically said "you've shot a revolver before"

I replied that I try to stay current on a variety of platforms. You never know what you might have to use without a choice. things seldom go exactly as planned.

Life evolves, depending on what pastimes that you participate in. I think back 12-15 years and realize at that time I had twice as many semi autos as I had of revolvers. In 2020, I have twice as many revolvers as I do semi autos. Does this mean that I shoot a semi worse than a revolver. I doubt it. On my Wednesday morning range days there is always once of each in my range bag. Marksmanship skills are perishable, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. Plus economically the cheapest pistol ammo available in bulk on the market is either .22 LR, .38 Spl, or 9mm.

It can happen, but it's not something that happens a lot. I've fired tens of thousands of rounds thru revolvers, including competition with fast reloads, and never had it happen.

A failed magazine spring can turn an auto into a single-shot. An auto (if it's a good one) is better for combat than a revolver, but neither is perfect.

the tool is only as good as the person using it. a bad shot with an autoloader is still a bad shot. A good shot with a revolver is a good shot.

accuracy through volume is never a good strategy, especially if your ammo is limited.
