if it's loaded properly. It's no strain at all to start a 69 gr hpbt at 2500 fps in a 10" CAR. That bullet has a .305 BC rating, or a bit better, as it slows down. It still has 1300 fps and 220 ft lbs left at 500 yds.
That's all that the Makarov has at the muzzle. Would you rather have a failure to stop at clubbing distances, or so far away that the guy couldn't hit you even BEFORE you put a .22" hole in his chest, hmm?
Only a sniper type shot would hit at such a range, other than by pure luck. So all he'd have to fire at would be a bobbing head as a target. Nobody hits such a mark, with a battle auto, at such a range, other than by pure luck (ie, less than 50% of attempts).
