with 6 lbs of CAR-15, 1 lb of .22 unit, 2 lbs of suppressor, bipod, spare parts, cleaning kit, 3/4 lbs of spare mags, scope and mount, 2 lbs of 223 ammo, the total load is less than 18 lbs.

Scope, steel mount, and M1A, NOT the heavy barreled model, , suppressor, 4 spare mags, and 40 lousy rds of match 308 ammo is 18 lbs. So dont BOTHER claiming that it's not feasible to CARRY 1000 rds of .22lr's, AND a fighting rifle. You'd also carry 7 lbs of pistols, mags,pouches, and ammo, (silenced Ruger .22, 1911, totaling 5 lbs right there, mag pouches and holsters totalling a lb, and 230 gr .45's being 22 rds to the lb, and spare 1911 mags being 2 ozs each. .45 bozos usually CLAIM that they are going to carry 6 spare mags, 50 rds total ammo. that's 12 ozs of spare mags, 2 1/4 lbs of pistol ammo. Say, 1/2 lb of .22 ammo, for the silenced Ruger .22 pistol. 9.5 lbs of pistol crap, and aint yet considered any cleaning gear for 308. ANOTHER .5 lb.

Since u CLAIM long range capability, and wanna WASTE lots of ammo "shooting thru" cover, you are going to have to CLEAN that 308 a lot. I won't have to bother to clean 223 bore at ALL. The .22lr waxed bullets will protect it from rust, and no more 223's than I will fire thru it, fouling will never be a problem. I aint stupid enough to TRY 500m+ shots, when my life is on the line, with ANY rifle or load.

That's as vs my 14 oz canned M21, no holster, 19 oz Star 9, a 2 oz pocket holster, 3 ozs of spare mags (1 for each pistol) and 4 ozs of 356 ammo. The .22lr ammo for the M21 is nothing special, since already carrying it for the AR's .22 conversion unit. For the guy with .45 and 308, however, the .22 ammo IS "extra".

Since you aint ABOUT to jam up garnad and his bs about carrying 30 lbs of gun-gear,you CAN'T say crap about TWO THOUSAND rds of .22lr, and the above CAR-15 and gear. So much for "running out of .22 ammo", and HAVING to use slingshot. The above gear list, and 2000 rds of 22lr only totals 25 lbs. 308 match ammo is 16 rds to the lb. So figure in ANOTHER 16 lbs of 308 ammo,if you are garnad, and stupidly carrying 300 rds of 308. He'd of course want LOTS more than a mere 4 spare mags, too. So he's REALLY talking about carrying FORTY lbs of gun-gear, and you aint ABOUT to call BS on HIM. The above listed CAR-15, and FOUR THOUSAND rds of .22lr weigh no more than the gun gear garnad CLAIMS he'd "carry", if shtf.

That Baretta M21 is about as worthless as a tit on a boar hog for what you're trying to do with it. You're better off with a super small, super light, but potent surprise backup weapon like a Keltec .380 that you just keep stashed; what many older cops would refer to as an 'onion field' gun.

You need one rifle and one pistol with maybe a spare weapon in your ruck.

The spare weapon should be a .22 pistol like a MkII, .22/45, or a Buckmark, something you can actually hunt with, unless that is also your primary sidearm, then forget the spare. A MkII as a sidearm complements a .30cal very well.

The CAR-15 and the .22unit is OK, this is what I currently carry, but your barrel is too short, but you'll evidently have to learn that the hard way. Your centerfire sidearm is whatever twists your noodle.

You're planning on packing maybe a little too much .22LR and defintely not enough 5.56mm. You get into a fight it won't be like one of your nice clean pistol matches and you'll be praying that you brought more 5.56mm.

A man on foot or a bike who actually knows primitive skills or how to hunt can get by with a single brick or less and still have a luxurious supply of .22LR. On that thought, YOU might want to pack a couple of extra thousand.
