But, If I hit a target with a .303sp they will stay where I hit them and not be bothering me any more. A .223 is good for a lot of things, but I like the old Enfields, and keep several around. They are the fastest, and most durable bolt gun I know of, and if You could get over that flinching problem You might enjoy them.

The 11" CAR is worth precisely nothing outside of "halitosis close" ranges.

Do the same thing at 300 yards. Use reactive targets, note the difference in damage teh .303 does vs the way too slow .223

YOU flinch, too, stupid, firing 223 or anything else at .50 second splits. Everybody does. The Blast is too much. Just because you've got LUCKY a few timesin combat, and managed to hit a guy or 2 at 100 or 200 yds (by firing 20 shots or more) doesn't mean you DIDN'T flinch,most or all of those shots.

TRY it sometime, <font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font><font color=red>*</font>, SEE if you can react, raise rifle, and hit 4 torsos, at 50m, NO EAR PROTECTION, in 2.5 seconds or less, with 223, 308, .30 ak.

If u "think" you can take a good 223 sp in the chest, and bother ANYBODY, you are fos. Ditto if you "think" a 303 ball rd thru the butt or some such peripheral hit will stop them, dumbass.

I'll pop you with 223 sp in the chest, 300m, 11" barrel, or 400m, 20" barrel,a nd stand there and let you shoot back all you CAN, dumbass. You'd have to elevate your 303's sight almost off the GUN to get reliable chest hits at 400m.

303 and bolts were ok for their DAY, against 45-70 single shots,muskets, spears,etc. Today, tho, they are joke. Wake up and smell the coffee. The Bolt action died as a fighting rifle in ww2. that was over SIXTY years ago. The AR-223 has reigned supreme as a fighting rifle for nearly 40 years. The M4 has a whopping 3" more barrel than my 11", and the guys are stuck with ball ammo, and yet they do just FINE, FAR better than the TSMG or .30Carbine ever did, for instance.

BTW, the issue (ghost ring) battlesight on the No4 enfield is set dead on at 300 yards. The vernier is marked to 1300 yards (on rifles so equipped, others have a second ghost ring set to 600 yards) the 300 yard mark doesn't have much barrel elevation at all.

Jeff Cooper, the same one gunkid likes to quote, wrote about a man winning several top 3 gun matches with a JUNGLE CARBINE! Yes, a .303 Jungle carbine. Cooper felt it's not the instrument, it's the man (and woman) behind the gun.

This SHTF fantacy is just that. A dependancy on a pos CAR (which has now been debunked as an inferior weapon.)
