3 mill+M16's in service with countries world-

wide, as MANY MORE AR's doing just fine in civilian hands, and bozos STILL claim that the gun "aint reliable', the round is "too feeble", etc. That's a crock. 223 ball's CONSIDERABLY more effective, at typical ranges, than 30 CArbine ball ever was, and 30C ball sufficed for our best warriors, most of the time, at considerably shorter ranges than the 223 works at. All a CIVILIAN has to do, to make the 223 a FINE manstopper, is not be too cheap or lazy to buy or handload good softpoint ammo.

I haven't read one post here on this board that said the M16 "ain't reliable" nor one that said the proper military round was feeble. The only beef we have ever voiced is your choice of the dinky 10-11 in barrel. It needs 16 - 20 inches to perform properly.

Our offer to mail you to Belize is still open. :D

Take my word for it, the M16 is NOT reliable at temperatures below -10 degrees C.
the above bser has MANY times said 223's will just bounce off of him beyond 200m.
YOU, never having HAD an 11" 223 on a CHRONOGRAPH, just like none of the OTHER bsers have, are fos about how much it hurts velocity.
Never an 11" AR, but my 14.5" Armalite M15A2(LE) many, many times. I have no doubt in my military mind how a short barrel length hurts the 5.56mm.
Point made, Garand. At minus 10deg C, a lot of things go unreliable.

At -10C, I'm throwing another log in the fireplace, not going out to fight anybody, if I can possibly avoid it. Seriously, though, the '16 will work in artic environments with a proper cold weather lubricant. Cold weather affects many firearms in negative way's not just M-16's. The Garand's and Browning machine guns acted up with regular lubricants in WWII and Korea. The carbine was notorious for freezing up. I never was a cold weather warrior, but from the information I've heard, it's really a matter of keeping the parts dry lubed and not to bring them in and out of the cold. And John's totally wrong about production amounts, try 70 million, not 3 million M-16's or their variants.
The M16 is a glorified varmint rifle, nad has no business on the front lines. Even with a larger calibre (such as its predecessor, the AR10), the M16 has the fatal reliability flaw associated with direct gas operation. In good conditions, with quality ammo, this is a mute point. In combat situations, and with ammo made by the lowest bidder, it tends to make a difference.

BTW: THe only AR15 variant using a gas-op rod (I can think of) is made by HK.
Actually, I remember seeing an add for an AR type rifle that used an FN-FAL gas system. Dunno if it was an actual modified FAL system or if they used the design and built one from scratch...

I wish I could remember where I saw the add though.

Now an actual FAL scaled down to .223 would be cool and NOT the FNC/CAL.

One time I did see an article on a prototype full sized FAL in .223 made by IMBEL, never knew if it went into production though.

But just imagine a MINI-FAL that takes M-16 mags.

Find a single post where he made such a claim. I’d be willing to bet $1,000 to your $100.00 that you can’t.

Oh bull 💩 Melvin with capital B&S.
You're such a pathological liar you can't keep truth from fiction straight Melvin Von Munchhousin.
