might as well be a 12 ga slug. In fact, with an AUTO, 12 ga is better. with saboted rds and rifled barrel 12 auto is LOTS better, actually. sks is close enough as to make no diff, same range, same power level, 2x as fast a repeat hit.

You can honk that 45-70 up to 2000+ fps with jacketed bullets and the right loads, silly rabbit. Thats serious rifle power capable of killing anything in North America including Alaskan game. Just because you are scared to death of and unable to handle a powerful rifle doesn't mean everyone is a sissy like you.

It must be pathetic, having to admit that a member of the gentler sex is capable of mastering a firearm that your not, gunkid! I hope you don't consider yourself a man!!!

Let's see. A 10" POSCAR gets a 70gr bullet at something like 2500 fps, and the .45/70 gets a 405gr bullet at 1500. The .45/70 smashes through brush, sapplings, and the like and delivers massive stopping power. The POSCAR's bullet breaks appart hitting small twigs.

Ones a fantacy toy of a nitwit, the other is what real people use in places like Alaska and Canada to stake their lives on.

The .45/70 wins hands down.

Hmmm, .45-70 IN BLACKPOWDER TRIM, throws a 405-gr bullet about 1350 fps, and EVERY animal has been taken with this load, including the big bears and African game.

Buffalor Bore runs rounds up to 2150 fps (350-gr JFN), 2000 fps (405-gr JFN), 1925 fps (430-gr LBT-LFNGC, a hardcast lead bullet), and 1625 fps (500-gr FMJFN).

Garrett runs a 550-gr hardcast to 1550 fps.

That's one hell of a lot more whoop-ass than any poodle popper, and they fire just fine from (among others) Marlin leverguns.

The wounding mechanism is different for the large, heavy bullets, but only someone who knew something about terminal ballistics would understand it.

Has anyone else noticed that the 880 lbs-ft .460 Rowland is a "powerhouse", but the 1950 lbs-ft .45-70 is "weak"?
Interesting observation.

Kind of like when he said the Makarov had no stopping power, but the .22 M21 with a silencer was perfect for 100 yard sniping.

Uh Garand, NUTTY JOHN'S a little confused about his gender identity right now. Give him a little time, so he can decide between the wearing a skirt or long pants. Oh, he also needs to decide on what bra size he needs to wear.
