230 gr .45 ball bullet, at 550 fps has MORE momentum, and 4x the frontal aread. Shoot some dogs with both, and I mean 5-6 with each, in the chest, so lucky flukes will be mostly ruled-out, and SEE which load rolls them, unable to get up, nearly always, and which one nearly always lets them run off howling! If Hatcher-Cooper were correct, the results would be reversed.

We CAN get a 55 gr bullet to 2200 fps,in a pocketable 356 TSW, and the 9mm bullet has 2x the frontal area of the Hornet, and the Split Nose bullet DOES reliably frag in flesh at that speed. So, yes, we DO get more shock and tissue destruction than we do with the 55 gr softpoint bullet in the Hornet. Velocity and energy transfer ARE where it's at, IF you use them in the most effective manner. Momentum just means recoil, and slower repeat hits.

I once hit an armadillo at no more than 15 feet with a .45acp 230-grain lead flatpoint load (my reloads) from a 5" colt govt. It rolled it over, but the critter then got up and made it under an old saddle shed a few feet away. It died under there (we knew that after a couple days), but it was still very capable for a while after being shot.

More capable than I'd want an attacker to be.

John, Have had more luck with killin' dillers with a 22 than a 45. Hit them up high in the sholder or any area around the head and there is no problem. I love to hunt them, Check bout every night for them in the yard. I live in the middle of a big field and they are everywhere. Just don't forget to haul them off of they get pretty ripe!!

Nick:)

sure, if all u want is them dead. Some

of us, however, take the oppurtunity , or MAKE the opportunity to find OUT something about the effectiveness about the loads that Cooper, Taylor and so many others LIE-about to all of us. Believe me, .45 ball aint worth a hoot in hell as a manstopper, and animal testing proves it. Yes, it's killed a lot of men. So has the .22lr. The .22lr has even STOPPED a lot of men, and so has 9mm ball. There's a million men CONSTANTLY speading lies about how wonderful a manstopper .45 ball is.
