'45's, 800 fps, when it comes to putting down animals swiftly. So it's pretty pointless to put up with the weight and bulk of a belt gun,and only have such jhp's in it. A pocket pistol can have the 590 ft lb prefrag load, and it's adequately controlable in rapidfire,too,by a good man. You can always put a pocket pc in a purse,or a belt rig, ya know. The belt gun can't be pocketed, so it's less versatile.
There are plenty of modern loads for the .357Sig, .45ACP, .40S&W, and 9mm that have proven to be extremely effective against humans and they are available over the counter at any gun store.
