Sounds like a pretty good round from what Iv'e read. The specops who've worked on the design and your DocGKR types who tested do IMO know more than a thing or two.

I like the .5.56 with OTM, SP's, and Nosler partition. Has killed each deer I've hit with it with one shot in short order.

However, I do think this 6.8mm round sounds pretty interesting. Low recoil, 115 grain OTM bullet, 2700 fps from carbine, very good wounding. Sounds like a superb deer rifle round.

I was disappointed to read how much weight this upper adds to an AR carbine however. In the published stuff I've seen, they are up to 8.5 lbs. Oohhhh mannnnn! I hate weight. Add even an ACOG and you're over 9lbs. I think that 8.5 lbs was empty too!

OK for specialized soldiering I'm sure. But having packed military style rifles in that weight range in the north GA mountains deer hunting before, I'd have little interest in that although it would probably be a primo deer slayer with a ballistic tip load.

Interested in other's take on this new load.

that sounds like alot of performance

from a"carbine", that's the first wt and speed specs I've heard. Same case head and bolt diameter as the 5.56? Is that 2700 fps from a 16" barrel? that's about 65% more than can be had from the 223. Did you check out what I said about .45 Professional AR,from LeGendre? Shortened 284 Win case, 230grs at 2900fps, altho that is probably a 20" or longer barrel. 4300 ft lbs.

The case was based on the .30 Remington for the dimensions aspects. Uses AR mags - can't seem to discern whether one does or does not have to modify lips. Seem to have read both. ???

Several of Harris pubs mags have carried survey articles. SWAT mag too. Tactical Forums and I think AR15.com have also had a good bit of cartridge details.

arfcom is a joke. It's either down

completely, or runs so slow that it takes all night just to look at a dozen topics. Tactical forums guys are pretty much full of it about most things, but maybe they can be trusted to get the ballistics correct.
