'78, H&G made me a custom .45 SWC

mold. A 230 gr version of their famous 200gr #68. The first version had too long a beveled base, keyholed a lot. So I sent it back, Wayne surface ground down the top a bit, and it then was very accurate. I could get it to about 900 fps in a lw Commander, but it was very hard to control in such a ccw gun. The problem was that it just didn't show any great effect on animals. The 185 gr Silvertip jhp, hollowbased and shortened to 160 grs, could be driven to 1050 fps, be considerably more controlable, and a LOT more effective on animals.
