cause if stolen, the loss is minimal. They can have a bit more range for use on either varmints or big game than the sks has, for considerably less $ (in the case of the Moison-Nagant at least) and in some cases, they might cause you less hassle if they are spotted by the cops, etc. Such a low cost, bolt action 308 or 06 or 8x57 can fire an AP type round that is more likely to pierce water towers, power transformers , propane tanks and pipelines than is the sks round (much less the 223) but I don't regard the above as enough reason to bother OWNING any, tho. If shtf, I'd FAR rather have a 6" barreled, telescoping stocked, box mag fed 22lr auto, with luminous sights, see thru mount and 2x7 scope than ANY noisy bolt action.

You have ruined your post with the advocation of illegal activities. As for the 6" barreled, telescoping stocked, box mag fed 22lr auto, with luminous sights, see thru mount and 2x7 scope, thats the silliest shtf weapon I've heard of. Worse even than the POS 11in CAR. I know that 223 fan didn't tell you that. Was it Teddy who told you?

I actually LIKE a lot of the milsurp boltaction "cheapos"...yeah Andy, they don't cost much but we all know you can get a real gem...good quality shooters that won't break the bankTell you the truth though,I'm grim death on thieves ESPECIALLY when they try to steal from ME.Even if it only cost me a yard or a yard& a half;it was money I spent ,not the @sshole trying the old smash&grab discount.
Back when I was more or less living rougher than I am now(think gainfully employed with no fixed address)I was sleeping in my old Econoline van in Lawrence Ma outside of my jobsite. For company and an alarm clock/deterrent,my 4 year old (at the time)Pit Bull ,King. He'd get me up to go out for a run or a latrine stop;or at anyone apporching our digs with intent to gain entry. The only firearm in the van was actually on me(Uncle Mikes shoulder rig-S&W 586).
King was not a barker;unless he had something to say& I was too far away to be woke by him nuzzing or nudging me.He got me up at about 03:00AM as some idiot was tring to slim jim the passenger side door.Poor bastard had that door open up on him REAL fast;with King and me on toop of him about half a second after the door hit him in the face.I was so pi$$ed,I did'nt even think to draw my piece;he caught a beating and my dog kept tryimg to get aroound me to get at himHe stopped trying to fight and I actually did NOT let King go for him.LPD caught him avbout an hour later;I had called them from the job trailer . Suprise ,suprise,he had outstanding warrants and several defaults for theft, assault&possesion.Sorry to go :eek:fftopic:

as I have already said, I'd bust you in the mouth over getting snotty over a $50 debt. If I caught a guy stealing a $20 battery, and had a GOOD SHOT at disposing of the body in a discrete fashion, he'd be in pcs, in the sewers.

Really don't think the thief would be in any danger at all Melvin. He would just wait until you were asleep.

RIKA :D
Melvin:point #1;I pay my debts-even to people I don't think much of. Point #2:The "you"in your "I'd bust you in the mouth"...business: A guaranteed way to really get my "kinder gentler" side brought out would be for you to have been addressing ME in that fashion....after all ;you've a standing invitation to visit.Whether the visit materializes or how it goes depends entirely on you. All youve got to do to get along with people(or at least me) is be civil....of course all you have to do to change the nature of that visit to something else....make noises about "busting me in the mouth".Personally;either one works for me.Although ,like anyone more or less normal I find needless hostility to be wasteful.
Gunkid only has "needless hostility" in his life, there is nothing else to wake up to in the morning for. How sad and pathetic.
