"with one shot". Not without a brain or spiine hit it doesn't and a 223 would suffice with those. :) I got news, 12 ga slugs don't always stop adrenalized, 100 lb DEER, and a 45-70 is 405 grs, 1500 fps. 12 ga is 440grs, 1400 fps, with over 3x the "frontal area" of the .45 bullet. so those who "think" 45-70 is so great are simply IGNORANT of the FACTS. Ditto those who "think" .45 ball is such a great "manstopper". They've been reading too many bs stories, that's all.

Speaking from experience on this subject, having shot several bears in the past decade with a Winchester .45-70 lever action rifle... I've never had a problem dropping one with that gun.

Well, when you drive that .45-70 to 2200 fps its a whole'nuther ballgame.Do you really believe that there are a majority of hunters who still use the old BP loading?

Tell ya what Tard... here's an easy way to make a bit of cash. Some joker has transplanted a couple of Grizzly's in WVA illegally. The local DNR folks have been hunting one of them now for five months with no luck. There is a reward out for the elimination of this animal. We know his general location but no one has gotten him.

You can come out with your CAR and take this animal. The bounty is $1k I believe... If you survive the encounter that is.

Evidentially the TARD, is oblivious to the finer points of bullet placement.

Edited to add: Other than his TOE!

As you can see from the TARD'S posts, he has no hunting experience.

Hmmm, 12 ga, 3" slug is 437.5 grains, 1270 fps.

.45-70. . .
550-gr @1550 fps
420-gr @1850 fps
500-gr @1625 fps
430-gr @1925 fps
405-gr @ 2000 fps

All factory loads. All provide maximun penetration, best for big bears. The composition of bears tend to deflect light bullets all too often. But go ahead, go after one with your .22

These things can only happen in the mind of out resident NUT-CASE, the TARD.
