Hey all,
I'm a senior bio student with an interest in firearms. I'm not really a hunter, but I used to love plinking cans and coke bottles with a Mossberg .22 LR and a Marlin .22 mag back when I was a kid. I also have a heavy interest in military history.
Someday, I'd really like to start a collection of early 20th century arms but I have no idea where to start. I know a little store in my hometown in VA used to have garands and a SMLE or two, but I don't think they have them anymore and I don't remember what the prices were.
So basically, what would be normal prices and availabilities for the following weapons? I'd prefer well-kept models in order to experience shooting them a few times, but it would mostly be just a collection. That said, I also wouldn't mind re-finishing the woodwork or learning some repair methods.
So, here's my list.
Lee Enfield:
SMLE (any type)
No. 5 Mk. 1 Jungle carbine
No. 4 (any type)
Springfield M1903
M1 Garand
M1 carbine (any type)
Mauser 98k
Mosin Nagant M1891-30
MAS 1949
SAFN-49 / FN-49
Thanks for any info!
