You can scope any rifle, dude.

If I had to chose between a 11.5" CAR-15 or a decent AK, I'd chose the AK. A decent AK can be extremely accurate.

BTW, speaking of AK's, did you know that while I was in college I would often take a break and go out and practice with my 5.56mm and 7.62mm Polytech AK's out in the desert within sight of where you were being held at the Fed facility north of Phoenix? Small world, huh?
