with 70 lbs of gear, then do same with 50 lbs of gear, then go to some Hi-power and combat rifle matches, WATCH the AR-223 kick everybody's ass, and THEN tell me you still want to lug around a pointless extra 20 lbs of NOISY 308, .45, etc, if shtf.

Exactly what would you know about backpacking? What ruck do you use? What are the contents of the ruck? How often do you backpack? Do you have witnesses who are willing to supply independent verification? Please post a detailed kit list of what you have packed and ready to go AT THIS MOMENT! You post yours, I'll post mine with pictures!

The funny thing is I've humped more than that at various times through the woods. Either working for Uncle Sam or just for pure fun. Seems Super Tard again underestimates everyone around him.
Outdoor experience, ok since I'm getting to care less about who knows what my real name is let me talk about some stuff I've done, at least the fun part.
I was a member of the Ozark Highlands Trail Association for several years and on their board of directors for close to 2 years. When I was an active member on the board I took care of leading dayhikes and over night hikes, at least one each per month in addition to when I went out on my own. Not only have I done alot of hiking on trails through the Ozark National Forest I helped build and keep up a few sections of trail in the Natinal Forest here and there also.
Now it's been a few years since I've ben an active member but I still go out to the woods as often as I can.

This coming from an idiot who won't go outside more than a half day at a time, and thinks people are going to fight with their rucks on. Sorry buttplug, just doesn't happen, you take fire, you drop the ruck. Everyone knows it. Hell, in the Army, if you were carrying 70 punds of sh!t on your back you were pissing everyone else off. . . . .because you had the light load.

Stup*kid, you carry your itty-bitty 30lb gear with that POS 11" CAR backpacking, hills, brush, mud, snow, and then YOU go to any HP match with that POS Matell trash and YOU will get your arse kicked all over the range. But we know you are 'on parole' and even though you are not scared of anybody, you are sure scared to be caught with a gun in your posession. So it don't matter what WE carry, you can't carry ANYTHING or even touch it.

Oh yeah that's right you'll hurt yourself if you actually walk anywhere!

not me. even if I could travel, I dont do

such crap just for the hell of it. Too likely to ruin an ankle or a knee.
And you can travel, you're just too dumb and lazy to get it done.

Just another lie from you.

Its ALWAYS a good idea to do some load bearing endurance trraining, even if you don't have BOB ready to go.When the tendonitis from old breaks doesn't lock up my feet,I've been known to trhow on the trail runner shoes,a 40-50 pound weight vest and cover some distance on the river trails. I reside near the NH border;river&deer trails let me criss-cross the border without having to run any repeats.Beats indoor cardio by a long shot, and the dog loves it
Just because you DON'T have 70 plus pounds of gear to grab( a usual medium wieght in my 11B10 days),does'nt mean you should never include training of that sort;think of it as a possibility to get ready for.

turning an ankle or a knee is a very serious possibility for ole tub o guts GK. If you packed as much blubber at ole fat ass you would be endangering yoru knees and ankles too.

Maybe nhe neds to get the assualt wheel chair instead.

Silly Andy....
OK , I'll play. Once again, you may have your little bullets. I will respond with aimed fire, capable of punching through 8" of tree , doors, floors, your "ever present ruck", any body you are most likely hiding behind(because you most likely will be).....and delivering a fatal wound, that will include a large amount of the material you are hiding behind.

IF I wanna play around in the woods for fun , "just to see" , well hell , gimme
a itty bitty M-4 , since its just play....and if I'm gonna get shot at 300-500
meters , I would much rather be the recpient of 55-75 grains of .55 incoming , than 147-168 grns of 7.62.

Matches are just that ,"playing in the woods" , so play away:kill:

With any luck, Gunkid will be able to respond sometime in November when he gets out of prison.

whatever

I'm sure you would. Some of us answer from ACTUAL experience....and some just "pop off". You may have your 556, which can be very versatile under specific "perfect" situational scenarios.7.62 needs no hedging to work through those scenarios. You can argue with all the "what ifs" ya want, physics trumps all...
cheers

Yeah, you fools STILL "think" 223's bounce off of you. I'd LOVE to demo how wrong you are.

Gnslngr,

Did you seriously just say that some 5.56 just "pops off?" You are aware that when talking about many types of III armor that some 5.56 and varmint loads will penetrate fully within 100 yards based off of velocity alone, and that many (when fired from a 16"+ barrel) will damage the armor more than slower options? 7.62x51 will generally handle deflective media better than 5.56x45, and certainly has higher efficacy in removing a person from a fight in certain and numerous terminal scenarios which can be wargamed to the end of days, but saying (within the confines of a legitimate reply to what was posted) it's the end-all-be-all and that 5.56 is ineffective within its operational envelope (which isn't really horrible considering the larger picture of how the widespread issued bullet is a poorly designed FMJ-penetrator and that once you take the other loads available and apply them correctly there is no question of terminal capability) is somewhere between an all out admission of ignorance and internet-special-olympics troll banter.

FWIW, the new SOST is supposed to terminally outperform most other issue 5.56 loads and one person I have great respect for considers it just under the level of 5.56 75gr TAP.

read the post before you reply

pop off refers to Andy's posting style. If you like your 556 fine.I know a lot of unhappy people in Afghanistan right now, not a few involved with Somalia-they are unsatified with the 556 as afr as range and penetrating ability and stopping power. If you feel that your .556 is equal to a 7.62, then...thats up to you.I'm sure you two can kill somebody with your .556's.
