What's your's? I don't mean the CCW, or "housegun", just the one you like kickin around in the woods with? I'll start off with my 9 shot .22 Model 94 Taurus. Lightweight, accurate, and fun and inexpensive to shoot. I take my Lab out and walk a couple of miles and burn up a couple hundred rounds plinkin' and feel great stress relief. The dog gets to swim, so she's happy, too.

Beautiful pup. We have a Lab female named Boo and she's my baby. For my favorite handgun, I choose the Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8" 45 Colt. Either it or the S&W Mod 27 goes everywhere with me when I'm out having fun in the fields and woods.

U.S. Postal Service Speed Six, 3 inch barrel, in .357 Magnum with Ruger factory DAO hammer and Secret Service round butt wood stocks. Mine times perfectly, rock tight. It's my everywhere gun. I carry it canoeing, biking, hunting, and it's my SD revolver of all time. Yes I also have a Colt 1991A1 for the auto, but the Ruger is just tough to beat.

I have Sigs, Glocks, Smiths, and others, but those two are my favorite carry guns. They have wear marks and carry marks from the years of use, but I swear by them.

Smith&wesson Model 1950 Target .44 Specia. It is an N frame with red ramp front sights and a sset of smooth redwood grops. Superbly accurate and utterly reliable.

My Lab is the best retreiver I have ever owned, unfortunately she has this habit of looking you in the eye after she has retreived a duck which I swear, in Labrador language, She say's "My Duck, As*****, you want one YOU swim a hundred yards through that icy water and get your own!" All you did was make a loud noise!

My favorite "woods" handgun is my .454 SRH boomer. I don't shoot a lot of .22 pistol anymore, although I do shoot a ton of .22LR rifle. (Bought 2,300 rounds this weekend.)

I suspect that when I get my Ruger Mk2 back from the class 3 guy with its new suppressor, that will change; and I'll be a .22-pistol shooting nut again.

depends upon what I expect to be doing. If I am specifically hunting big game, or expect real trouble but CAN'T take the CAR for some reason, the 460 Rowland lw Commander. Normally, tho, the pocket Star always rides along, and if small game, etc, is on the menu, then the canned M21 Beretta is the primo "trail gun", at 8" OAL and 14 ozs.

I lost my puppy last monday. Tanner died as gently as he lived. I miss him terribly. He had a full and wonderful life and he is playing in heaven now. I love Black Labs... they are great dogs... Tanner was the absolute best friend anyone could ever have.

Tanner and I used to take walks in the woods all the time. The gun I carried then was my S&W 629 .44 mag. When ever I'd strap that on, he'd go nuts cause he knew we were going to spend some time exploring.

RIP puppy, I miss you.

I feel for you mike, gunkid, so you admit you have your CAR, your Commander, your M21 and your Star. So when is the last time you actually shot them? Or is this part of the fantasy? Like your kit list.

Hard Rock, I'm very sorry. I strongly recommend you do what I did. Go out right away and get another one. A very knowledgable Veterinarian suggested this in his series of books on animals. His name was James Herriot. It has worked for me.

I have a feeling we'll have the pitter patter of little doggie feet in the house soon... my wife is on the Animal Control Board of our county and I have a feeling that she'll be bringing a rescue home.

The house is far too quiet...

Thanks guys... it's been one of the hardest weeks of my life.

Been there; my ex dragged me over to a pet store many years ago to see an exceptional cute Siberian Husky/Border Collie. I said I didn't want a dog. She really worked on me for 2 days. We went back, I asked the price and the lady said $25.00. I gave the saleslady $25.00 and she gave me $10.00 change. I asked why, she said my ex had put a $10.00 deposit on the dog 3 days before. 13 years later, taking that dog to the vet to be put down because of severe bladder problems and arthritis was one of the hardest things that I have ever done.
