Like my pistol post, what's your favorite rifle? When rambling around, I like my collapsible stock Colt AR-15. Light, short, but enough barrel length with the stock extended to be ana accurate platform. .223 ball is cheap enough so your wallet doesen't scream every time you blow off 2 0r 3 magazines. My second would be a Yugoslavian SKS. A bit heavy but manageable. You can half-way open the bayonet, jam it in the ground and use it for a monopod!

In my neck of the woods, we have to be careful about scaring the sheeple so the BA or a 22 works. FN 7x57 Mauser hunting rifle or the Ruger 10-22.

Tanker Garand in .308. Mine is rock reliable. Easy to carry 80 rounds in clips. I use a M1 Carbine double pouch on my belt, and the rest in a bandelio. Usually I just carry 4 clips while I'm out and about. That and my Speed Six.

A Springfield Armory .308 NM M1A1 which as a 2x-7X :eupluls scope mounted.

Favorite rifle for what?
for holding what I got. . .L1A1
For hunting. . .Marlin 1895
For farting around at the range. . .SMLE
For making the 100-yd .22 "snipers" sh!t their pants (as Kruschev was fond of saying in Enemy at the Gates) Mosin Nagant M44
For small game. . .10/22

hate to admit it, but!

my favorite[grab an go] is a KOREAN[k-2]

i have MADE killing running shots in excess of 150 yards ,on verious VARMINTS, here in the south west.[and it does NOT Give a person gas'eye' like a a.r.15 will , in this heat]

this is just my.02 mind you

Lately I've been keeping it simple.

I have a CAR-15 (and .22 unit) that I use for many things, but for hunting bigger game I often use a .308 Mauser. I also have a couple of 10/22's that also work well for other family members.

rifles are for WAR,or dead serious foraging. I see no reason to bother with lugging one around if things are not that serious. Apistol suffices for just jacking around in the woods, and its being ccw'd can be of real value at times. U are just another hiker, until somebody tries something stupid.

So, by declaring that rifles are ONLY for 'war' and/or SHTF, a person can conveniently ignore them and then try to shift the focus only to something he might actually know how to use, a pistol.

My favourite rifle in my toy box at this time has to be my M1A. If the balloon ever went up, I would prefer the FN FAL though.

This post was not directed toward convicted felons. You CAN'T just strap on a pistol or grab a rifle and hike around in the woods for fun, now can you?

Yeah he can.

Until Stillwater, who's physically tailing his ass and has actually already done a recon on him, snaps a photo and sends it to his PO.

And the lesson there boys and girls is don't make enemies with a determined man who needs a new hobby.

Read an article of this one really good looking lady in Colorado who was on parole for a relatively minor drug offence. Her new boyfriend, a professional photographer, took some photos of her nude posing with some of his (unloaded) guns. Her PO saw the pics and threw her back in prison.

You're career military, retired, licensed to work with explosives for the government, and you can't have a semi-only FAL?

Unfortunately I sold my TRW M14 and my Australian FN L1A1 about 11 years ago. With the change in our firearms laws which were passed in 30 days and made retroactive in 1995, if you didn't already own one you weren't grandfathered into that class of "converted full autos". The only firearms that I can't buy are full autos or converted full autos, but there are a wide variety of toys that I can just walk into a store throw down my plastic and go home with

Well GK's in the clear as I don't think ANYONE would want him to pose nude with anything. :sidestep: :laugh:
