altoids tin, with divider. half of it is multiwick candle, using beeswax, other half of the tin is filled with charred punkwood, which does a great job of catching and holding a spark. in the lid of the tin is a freznel lense. Also, a CAmpmor matchcase, which is also a whistle and compass, with a few vasolined cotton balls, a few storm proof matches, a couple of bic lighters, and big rubber bands (which ignite easily and burn hot, holding all together. One Bic is just ready in the pocket. the ferro rod is one of the hingepins for the canteen cup/lid. the other pin is a diamond sharpening rod.

having multiple ways to start a fire, and keep it going long enough to get fuzzsticks buringing well, even if soaked, is essential. But it need not total much weight or bulk, and many of the items have other uses. wax helps with stubborn zippers, as does soap. charcoal helps if you've got the pukes/craps. If you're ever in really dire need of instant, intense flame, stick knife into one Big lighter, pour fuel onto twigs, and light it with the other Bic.

normally, however, one cottonball and one spark will suffice, even if very wet. and if not wet, the fresnel lense and the sun suffices to easily light the candle. or a piece of the punkwood.
