Not much driving the backroads, shooting critters out of the window of patrol car,eh?
Don't believe I've ever done (or claimed I've done) that. Sounds like a "dig" for whatever reason, but really no skin off my nose, I guess.
Might be difficult to explain the brass all over the front seat & floorboard. I know one guy with a several full-auto suppressed 10-22's who took his car in to get the defroster checked, when it quit working. Turns out, the dashboard vents were full of .22LR cases. Oops...
Mostly we just get the typical stupid people. Got a call from a truck stop last Sunday afternoon from the clerk about 'suspected drug activity'. Get there, turns out to be two guys & two girls, all in their 20's, drunk, still drinking, and driving in & out of the parking lot onto hwy 89. (You've seen the picture before on "COPS"; they open the door & beer cans fall out. I kid you not.)
Of course, two of the four have warrants on them; just usually seems to go that way with these idiots. One of the two (female, for check fraud) is wanted in a neighboring county, who wouldn't extradite from our jail; so we let her go. Sounds exasperating, I realize, but if we have her in custody, and they refuse to come pick her up, they must not "want" her very badly. [Sounds like Clinton when Bin Laden was offered up, doesn't it...]
Other wanted one was the driver, so he got a free ride that day. ("You're welcome, sir..." :santa: )
Regardless, still retain full LE credentials; just listed as 'part time' instead of 'full time'. Thanks to Bush's signature last week, that now means I can carry concealed in every state of the union now.

Does that mean you have to give up the can on the CAR?
No; went through the full "ATF-check-out-the-citizen" routine when purchasing; that's probably why it took so long to get. Didn't want it to be tied to my LE credentials, in case I ever do completely leave LE behind. Same with the CAR itself. The only "LE-only" things I own are some Glock magazines; all guns & other gear are citizen-legal and personally-owned. (Could have saved $10 apiece on the M1 carbines if I'd bought them through the dept and then had them 'issued' to me, but didn't want them to have any "ties" on them. This way, they're mine, no matter what happens in the future.)
I took the CAR out to the country last Saturday and let my boys, my nephew, and my father in law shoot it with pretty much every combination: With and without can, full 5.56, subsonic .22LR, and supersonic .22LR. Had a blast; but that thing gets filthy fast with 5.56 ammo with the suppressor on it. The price of progress, I guess...
