has ruined nearly ever contestant. The Bairds proved that a simple (not even double=walled and debris-stuffed) tarp shelter suffices on Vancouver Island. The shelter building is an ADMISSION that they dont have a CLUE how to forage properly. Many have done very well, actually, with a tiny 60 ft gillnet, and they CAN have 30x that much netting, so why not make same out of the 2020 tarp and the rope hammock? There's zero need of a sleeping bag, gillnet, paracord, ferrorod, axe, or cookpot, so it's not like they dont have picks open to let them take the hammock, 12x12 tarp, and duct tape. The only 'reasons" are ineptitude and laziness. Man, if you can't make fire with the battery from the head-lamp, the copper "snarewire', the tape and a bit of lint scraped from the shemagh, you are WAY too lame to be on this challenge. Ditto if you can't refine workable clay out of shoreline mud and make pottery, cant make a supershelter out of the tarp, and stuff debris between the double walls of the lean-to, and make an igloo out of 2 inches of snow. Kid stuff and they can't figure it out.
