have a protracted fight, with many rds, use of cover, etc, but not civilians, 99% of the time, anyway.80% of the time, you never have to even FIRE, and half of the remaining 20% of the time, MISSES suffice to run off the punk. at least 3/4 of the time that you DO have to hit somebody, you only have to hit ONE, to run off the others. Half of the time, ANY solid hit, with any decent load at all, suffices. If you have cover, all you REALLY HAVE to do is prevent the attackers from outflanking your cover. You don't have to, and you SHOULDN'T be firing at cover using head, in a typical "non-shtf" situation. The gunfire is bringing YOU help, and the attackers MUST flee, before the cops arrive. EVERY shot that YOU fire, you are RESPONSIBLE for whatever damage it does, even AFTER a richochet. So wasting ammo, exposing yourself, for a VERY unlikely chance of a hit, on a bobbing head, with your ccw pistol, is just stupid.

You only need to expose ONE eye, for a fraction of a second, to confirm that the attackers are not outflanking your cover. You have to expose entire head, shoulder, arm, for at LEAST 1 entire second, to get off a decent shot at a cover-using head. So why do it? If he's charging you, you get his entire body to shoot at. Ditto if he's moving to other cover. TRY some 1 second "exposures" at a 6x6" head, even at 10 ft, timed from the instant you expose yourself around cover, to the intant you are back behind cover. It AINT much of a shot, believe me.

Sure is, the only way you can predict the future is by looking in a muddy crystal ball. Unfortunately erika/gunkid is the only one here with one.

Unfortunately, if all of those assertions are true, it just proves that one does not need a cobbled together POS magic gun to "win" a gunfight. Just about anything will do, including Makarovs! :dgrin:

Does that mean my Dan Wesson 15-2 'might' be sufficient.

CCW

For a majority of situations this is probably true, since most criminals are cowards that aren't looking for a stand up fight but rather a helpless victim.
Problem is, you never really know when you will run across the one in a hundred who actually is a warrior . Underestimating this guy will put you in a world of hurt, better to react as if all attackers are warriors and fight hard.
