if the effects of the bullet are the same as what they observe in jello? Hell no, they haven't, but I HAVE, and the two aint very close at all. 10% jello is formulated to respond to a bullet like hog MUSCLE does. Well, there's almost NO muscle,in or on the chest. The heart is a muscle, but it's no easier to hit than is the brain, because it's the same size. If guys THOUGHT they could reliably hit the heart, then they'd fire at the BRAIN, cause abrain hit is a LOT more likely to have the desired instant effect. So the muscle of the heart is a non-issue. So is the "muscle" on the chest of nearly anyone who's likely to make you shoot him. The bullet has to perform against BONES, either the ribs or sternum, and fragile tissues like the lungs, liver, spleen. The bones tend to smash shut or fill up a jhp, delaying or eliminating expansion, especially at the lower velocities.
At the rifle-like velocities of my Split Nose loads, both bullet frags AND bone frags are turned into "secondary missles", capable of doing real damage to fragile chest organs. We KNOW that rifle softpoints work just FINE at 2200+ fps impact speeds, so it only makes SENSE to seek such velocities in our handgun loads. THV-Arcane proved that such speeds CAN be safely attained in 4" ccw autopistol barrels, over 20 years ago. The only thing left to do is make the bullet adequately destructive and shocking, as vs the AP, simply poking a hole sort of impact seen with the THV Arcane, pointed, solid brass bullet. They had a 45 gr 9mm and a 60 gr .45, both over 2200 fps, in the early 1980's. and you wusses "think" that the answer is your pathetic 1000-1200 fps "modern, updated" jhp's.
