I was sorting through the safe and came across a 5 in. 17 HMR Taurus that I bought just about a year ago, and stopped and thought" Why did I buy this gun?" I was hot to have it at the time, of course, but after zeroing it in I haven't touched it. Now I'm trying to come up with a good reason to keep it. Anyone else ever do anything like that?

The "Explorer" and then "Explorer II"; had one myself. (Note past tense)

Only redeeming quality is that it looked like something Han Solo would carry (that's another dated reference, Rika; don't worry about it... )

Thing was probably the size of my current Super Redhawk .454 Casull, and a whopping 7-shot .22LR. :headbang:

If anyone remembers this ungainly clunker- Charter Arms AR-7 Pistol, it's been long gone for many years now.
Hey,John or Todd?I know where there is one for sale.If you want to relive the expierience that is. :dgrin:

I bought my S&W 22A .22 pistol in '97.I thought it was an ugly clunker.I still do.I finally shot it for the first time this year.I wish that I hadn't bought it but its as accurate(even busted-that's another thread)as my MKII's.

Yes a few times I have just had this urge, I cannot explain it as I KNEW it was stupid, but I bought it anyway.

Yeah. Ruger #1 in .375 H&H. The one with the stainless barrel and black laminate stock. Cool as all hell, great for bad weather, and looks downright aggressive with a silver scope on top. But didn't know why I bought it. It couldn't do anything my other big bores could do.

Then I took it to the range, pulled the trigger and then. . . . .I Understood.

with dual clipped mags[loaded] and a 4x30 illuminated reticle.

the thing 'feels' heavy,[so much for lightweight , shoulder fired weapon]

Well, so far I can't think of anything that fits the bill. But I have seen some guns that I wanted to buy, but came to my senses before I pulled out the wallet. The new S&W 500 is one that comes to mind. And the Desert Eagle .50AE I have to admit that I do have an AMT in .50AE, but it didn't cost as much as the Desert Eagle, and is rather impressive to shoot. No one has ever shot more than two rounds through it, though..... They usually hand it back to me with the remaining rounds in the magazine. That gun earned the name "Jesus Christ" gun. Because without fail, everyone who shot it said that phrase......
