Just received the new Sportsman's Guide. They offer new surplus M14 mags. Heres the advertising blurb.

"Wanna hear an odd interesting M14/M1A Mag surplus story? Okay, in 1968 the US govt sold its M14 production machinery to Tiawan. So in 1969 Tiawan began making their type 57 M14's including magazines. Here they are in individual wrappers, from American machinery. Does anybody know about these. It might be worth buying one to test.

The only thing that tells me caution is the 'Made to original US mil specs, except matte blued steel rather than parkerized.'

That means they are not GI mags.

A buddy of mine bought 20 at Camp Perry this year, they looked good to me, no good reason a M14 mag can't be made in Tiawan.

If they are blued not parked it ain't a problem to me as I can fix that right quick.

BTW- They ought to make decent range/practice mags at the very least.

You can always parkerize them. A new, super duarable, camo coating would also be an option.
