I bought a pair of Peltor Electronic hearing muffs a couple of years ago. Thought they would be ideal for hunting because I could hear animals approach through the leaves. WRONG!!! The wind noise was amplified so much that they were useless. Could hear much better with them off.

I wish there was some way to modify the muffs so that they would be useful in the woods. Or at least there would be some kind of device that would accomplish the same thing but screen the wind noise. Uni-directional would be fine as long as I could sweep the area.

What you are asking for is a device with frequency filtering. They are available and tonight I will look for stores that handle them.

Frequency filtering allows you to cut out wind noise, but amplify critter noise.

Hey thanks GB. Those power muffs look pretty good. Have you used them personally or know someone who has. I bought the Peltor muffs because of great claims which didn't work out. Would hate to get stuck again.
