if there is no reaction time involved (ie, .20 second more) So, if confronted by a knife or club-armed man in an alley someplace, with the CAR disassembled and in the backpack, etc, the punk can still be dealt with handily, without telling everyone within a mile of your (armed) presence. If it's cold weather, and hands in coat pockets looks normal, the hit can be 1/4 second faster, too. It might even be fast enough to silence a PAIR of such losers.

The canned M21 can also be used in the manner that the ninja used shirikens(ie,to delay and demoralize pursurers). When there's no med-care, ANY hit on you with a .22lr is likely to result in your (eventual) death. With no flash at night, and no blast, the canned M21 makes you capable of such "suppressive" firing, any time you see a point of cover that lets you watch your backtrail, in some alley, etc. Your real "manstopper" sidearm of course remains in swiftly-accessible reserve while you do such things, and you can always access and assemble the canned CAR-15, if things get too out of hand, and you get a minute of undisturbed time.

It's not that the canned M21 can't handle a gun- armed man(at least, it can under certain circumstances). It's that he's likely to fire at least one (loud) shot, or scream before you can brain him, unless stealth-surprise are really on your side. Once that noise is made, the (albeit noisy)man-stopping centerfire is likely to be of more value than is a suppressor. At least, that's so until you can get somewhat clear of the area where you made all that racket. So a big, heavy centerfire pistol(with a similarly big and heavy suppressor) is inferior to this lw,compact pair of pistols. You can't ccw (and still swiftly-access) a canned centerfire (that has ENOUGH more power than the .22lr to matter any.)Nor can you swiftly get it out of sight, run, etc.

Naturally,of course,if u can sneak up to within 10m

of a sentry, you can take a braced firing position and brain him(or a dog) with the canned M21. This is the sort of thing where a slidelock device might be of value,if other enemies are close enough to hear the ejection port "pop", and if you can get lucky enough to not have his rifle, helmet, etc, clatter on the ground, on each other, etc, when he falls. Such crap is just as likely to draw attention as is the ejection port pop, and you can NEED the swift followup shots, especially with just a .22. Even if you did drop him with the first shot, it would be best to cycle theslide, lock it shut again, and AGAIN hit him in the head, as he lays there, before leaving your position of concealment-cover. A glancing blow could make him fall, and he could yet recover, well enough to cause you real trouble, ya know.

While difficult, such a thing is MUCH easier than getting within Knife or hatchet range of the guy. Ditto getting within 10m of edible small animals, fish in shallow water, etc, as vs being able to club them.

More fantasy. How did your prison buddies react after hearing the same old BS over and over again? Bet they got tired of it real quick.
