So,it was 6 A.M. & I was standing outside waiting for my dogs.Nothing unusual there. The sky was incredibly clear.Unusually clear. Now I confess to,normally, paying no attention to the sky other that to see if it's going to rain. What I saw this morning certainly caught my eye though.

What I saw was a steady, unwavering light. No blinking as would be on an aircraft. The light came from the south & went due north at quite a clip. Then it stopped! It stopped!Helicopter you say.Well, that was my first impression too.The only problem w/that guess is that a helo has blinking lights & they fly at a low enough altitude that I should have been able to hear it in the still, morning air. Also,it was moving fast enough-it crossed the sky faster than any plane I've seen(other than at an airshow but those made tremendous noise too)-that it's distance from me would have had to be pretty close. But no noise....

I think that it was a UFO.

I believe you Jeff. Only other explanation I can think of is one of those stealth helicopters they talk about and I'm not sure that they really exist. Dad and I saw what might have been a UFO driving up to deer camp two years ago. We were driving North when I looked up through the windshield and spotted a long silver cigar shaped object. I told Dad to look and describe what he saw; he saw exactly the same thing I did. We exceeded the speed limit for about 20 minutes trying to keep it in view when suddenly it rose vertically and WHOOSH it was gone. Never have been able to explain what we saw but it wasn't an optical illusion. No, it wasn't the Goodyear blimp.

Heck when I was a teenager, I saw two lights flying parallel at VERY high speed from one horizon to the other. Well on the order of what you see in "shooting stars", but this was during daylight hours, and I have never seen meteorites in parallel like that. By the time I said "Mom! Look!" they were already gone. My mom told me later on that UFOs had been reported in the area. This was in Baltimore sometime in the 60s.

Then years later I was driving around in Towson, Maryland on a rather foggy night. The sky above me cleared for a bit and I saw a fusilage of some aircraft that was close enough that I could clearly see lighted portholes. Wish I could say I say beings staring out of the window, but if I did, I don't remember it. Wierd thing was that there was absolutely NO sound whatsoever coming from this thing. I know that fog tends to muffle sounds, but this thing was SO close that it HAD to be making some noise I could hear. Even dirigibles have a motor driven prop on them. I had pulled off to the side of the road and turned off the engine of my car to stare at it. Never heard a word from anyone else about that one. Could have been a regular aircraft of some type, but if so, it was flying awfully close to the ground in foggy conditions where there were buildings certainly tall enough to be a hazard to it. Probaby not an otherworldly space craft, but if certainly was something unidentifiable by me.

Oh, speaking of meteorites, once when I was a kid walking outside at night, I not only saw a meterorite, but I could actually hear it sizzle as it passed through the atmosphere.

Actually, I don't know what is the scarier thought: (1) There are LOTS of alien races out there, but they have good reason to not want to actively mingle with us, or (2) the human race is COMPLETELY alone in the universe, and the sum total of "intelligent" life anywhere is all on this one ball of dirt we call Earth.

There are some odd things out there. Exactly what their origin is it's hard to tell.

I've seen and heard a meteorite in the day time. That really makes you takes notice after seeing a few disaster movies based on asteriod impacts. :eek3:

OK- This may sound weird too, but as a kid I also saw what might have been a "crop circle" though this was just a plain flat round area IIRC. No fancy lines or patterns. Me and my cousins couldn't figure it out as it was in a unused pasture. The time was around 15 or so years before all the hoopla about them started.

There's some weird stuff in the sky - man made or not.

That thing which flew over Phoenix a few years ago was a couple of kilometers across and blotted out the stars. That was seen by thousands of people.

Myself, I got a glimpse of a large batwinged craft that was totally darkened out that flew over low and it was making only the faintest hum. I got a pretty good glimpse of it. I know my aircraft but I had never seen anything like that thing outside of a sci-fi film.

My guess is that particular craft was man made. The FedGov is fond of doing strange experiments out in the desert.

1992, Rural Wisconsin. We had some of my children's friends over for a get together. My wife drove them home at about 9:30 P.M. About four miles from our house she saw a large shape in the sky with lights around the rim. She though it was about 300 feet in diameter, and only about 200 feet off the ground. It made an "electric sounding buzzing noise" (my Wife's description) moved slowly North, then shot off almost faster than the eye could follow. She came home, shaken, and I had the children go into seperate rooms and draw what they had seen. All five of them drew the same kind of picture. We reported it to the UFO center in Florida, and they were real strange about it. My wife is a teacher and not given to "tall tales". And I would challenge anyone to seperate five 8 to 12 year olds and have them draw the same sighting. It happened. I just wish I had been there.

Heck, I like a conspiracy theory as much as the next guy.

IF all of the UFO sightings over the decades are real, and IF they are all the result of beings from off planet, and IF even one of those races is not benign, then what are the chances that there has NOT been contact? And IF there has been, WHY would it be kept a secret? Even if they are all benign, why would they make their presence so obvious, yet with an apparent "hands off" attitude?

Religious reasons? Would it be devastating to our self image, as a species, to learn that we are the equivalent of monkeys on the evolutionary scale in comparision to these alien races?

Political reasons? Are some of the laws that just do not seem to be in our best interests and on the surface appear to be just lacking in common sense, REALLY not in our best interests? Don't even try to tell me that there are not any people on our planet who would sell their souls if the price was high enough. Tell me what Bill Clinton would NOT do if he felt it served his own best interests.

Heck, I've read so many "theories" that it makes my head spin. All of them can't be right. ALL of them could be wrong. But one of them might be right. The most puzzling question of all is that if the UFO phenomenon is real, there are a LOT of people who probably know a lot about it. What is the force behind them all keeping them from spilling the beans? What's the incentive for their secrecy? Even if this is all some elaborate hoax put on by the government, again, it has to be known by a large number of people. How many military personnel have been stationed at Area 51? How many people in higher ranks of the armed forces are really privy to what's going on? Human beings just aren't known for keeping secrets. Not unless there is a very powerful self interest reason for doing so.

So any way I look at this, it just doesn't make sense to me. Just in the small sampling of the membership of this forum, we have several people convinced they saw something unexplainable. Extrapolate that out to the entire population and you are talking about a huge number of sightings of *something* going on. Yet the propaganda machine has made it so that most people are reluctant to talk about it for fear of ridicule. So how many people have seen something that they just will not talk about?

Heck, maybe the SHTF has already taken place, but we just don't know it yet. No fence could stop a stampede if the cattle comprehended about that slaughter house in their future.

[conspiracy mode OFF]
