not have to travel far, and could not avail self of livestock or granaries or caches, it could still be done, long term if you know what you're doing. 2.5 lbs of medical kit instead of 5 lbs of armor. 10-12lbs of pemmican, 4.5 lbs of salt, 12 lbs of guns and ammo (no pistol, just 30 rds of 223, 250 rds of .22lr, half subsonic, half stingers, ) 5 lbs of wool blanket, with a zipper to alter it to bag configuration, (sleeping bags get torn, soaked, eff THAT bs) the 6-8 lbs of water, the usual 14 lbs of survival kit/clothing, a spare pair of gloves, and 13 lbs of gillnets, trotlines, mousetraps, rat-traps, plastic bags, a lot more cordage, Gorilla tape, batteries, firestarters and wire than normal (for the BOB) Conibears, snares, seeds, E-tool, axe, blade for a bucksaw, another 2 quart container and lid, more soap and bug dope, more socks!
Mousetraps will catch birds, so will rattraps. Rodents are a very serious threat to your stored food!
the 4 lb AR would still get the nod, because of weight/bulk of the ammo, luminous sights. see thru mount, .22 unit. if you dont have to run from enemies or to finish off enemies, evade fire or flood, and dont have far to go before you can dump most of it and set up camp, yeah 70 lbs is feasible, IF you are big, strong and used to it, with good boots and socks, and vasoline the "hot spots' on your feet, crotch and armpits.
when you LIVE out there with the big critters, you can often (enough) arrange for 50m or less brain shots. Most of the time, anyway, it will be small game with the .22lr unit or deer, hogs, antelope, (chest shots at sub 150 yds) with the 10.5" barreled 223 sp. Yes, still favor the silencer, cause it doesnt run off game. Still want the solar charger and the night vision, cause a lot of game is best sought at night. Fish will be the main fresh flesh food, and much of it can be preserved, too. Most of the birds/small game will be snared and if you can arrange a sub 50m head shot, the .22 unit will take deer, hogs. It will also take coyotes, lynx, turkeys to such ranges, with chest hits.
In such a situation and time, be sure to trap/shoot all the predators and raptors that you possibly CAN, because they will be eating YOUR food critters. Eat THEM instead.
Even if you think that the coyote at 100 yds will just run off with your .22 hit, he WILL die and that means 100 more rabbits per year for you.
