misses, especially with magnum loads, right past the head, have changed a LOT of minds and if you hit somebody with a bullet, it's going to cost you at LEAST $50,000 to stay out of prison and not be suied out of every $ that you ever make. When you can hit 6x per second, like any highly skilled man can, using an SA auto, there's no need to panic about a mere knife guy (that far away). Not if you've got really effective loads in your pistol.

smashed down is smashed down, tho. have you ever had a shorty 223 fired right past your ear, from 10 ft away? that's what my pistol loads sound and feel like. When you hit somebody with a bullet, and are going thru what zim did, you'll WiSH that you'd given yourself the option of having the guy just stop or veer off. I've HAD a fat man charge me with a crescent wrench up raises, from across a small room. I was open carrying a 1911, with the chamber empty, cause I was living in the guy's garage and practicing my draw. I got it drawn, cycled and into the weaver, in time for him to stop, still 5 ft from me. While that was truly wondrous speed of draw, it was still at least 3/4 second, during which I could easily have shot him 4x, and if the start had been 3 yds further away (but my gun AIMED at him, 3more hits would have been easy to attain, and that wold be without firing from retendtion, without backing up, and without kicking him off of me. This is plenty to compensate for a guy who is faster to charge than Fatboy Rick was. Most people are just WAY slow for drawing and hitting.
