LEARN the route NOW, not trust to bs map, compass. When shtf, LOTS of things will change, including road-access, *******. What you gonna do THEN, hmm? whenn road is blocked, or your 4wd gets shot up so badly that it won't go any further, WHICH you gonna carry, 12ga, AK, 308, 10-22, bow, etc, and which you gonna abandon, hmm?

You are so shallow, the unexpected needs to change route are exactly the reason you need maps and land nav skills, but why should I care if you don't know what the hell you are doing? LOL Just going to make that much easier for folks to deal with your inept @ss.

I'll pull out my map and find a new path.

If things change how will you recognise your route? Hmmm?

While driving through a city on business this past Wednesday, I had to take a detour due to a road repair. What did I do? I looked at my street map and found a new way.

Actually, I already know MANY routes to each of several places I intend to go if SHTF. Not one route to many places, but many routes to many places.

Additionally, I have studied the maps of the surrounding areas and even have more options if I am force to go on foot, or cross country using 4wd.

Maps are incredibly powerful tools when used properly. A good set of topo's or blm maps are very useful. A couple of good compasses, as well as GPS units are required. (though don't count on the GPS if the SHTF is war)

Who is going to shoot up my truck, and why? I guess it depends on the SHTF scenario, doesn't it? Something where BB is going to close roads and shoot people is more than likely something you can anticipate happening. It takes time for BB to mobilize.

Just more invented reasons by you to cover up the fact that you don't know how to properly use a map and compass.
