revolver, and one who'd taken an elephant with .44. The ************** take elephant all the time with AK's, and they used to sometimes succeed at it with homemade muzzleloaders. :) Back in the day, pygmies managed it with spears. They'd crouch in small, covered pits, in the elephant's path, and when the tusker was straight over them, they'd ram a spear up into its guts, then hide-wait until infection-fever killed the animal.

It aint my fault that you are too inept and chicken****. to take bear, elk, moose with a canned 223, ya know. Or take deer with a canned .22 rifle(or the .22 unit in the AR, same thing. It's YOUR problem that you don't have the balls, skills, etc, to do such things. It's not that tough, but you do have to know what's what, be patient, know the species you are hunting, be a decent shottist, etc.

You THINK that you can move with 70 lbs like I can with 50 lbs, you are simply fos. That's the penalty you pay for choosing any rifle for shtf but a compact 223 auto and .22 unit. MAYBE "only" 10 extra lbs of guns and ammo, but the SAME sort of arrogance and ignorance that leads guys to choose inefficient, pointlessly heavy, bulky gun gear ALSO causes them to carry a pointless EXTRA 10 lbs of other gear, too. So I'm NOT wrong about their BOB being 70 lbs, vs my 50 lb load. I know damned well that it's so.

Only an idiot chooses to "survive" in Colorado without a sleeping bag. Only an idiot thinks he doesn't need to know where he's going and how to get there. Only an idiot hunts dangerous game with a .22. Only an idiot (one that expects 24/7 combat no less) would cripple his rifle by turning it into an unreliable rimfire.

Oh, and BTW, you're not a world-class shootist.

Stup*kid. You said you met several who shot buffs with .357 magnums. Ok, NAME THEM! Name when and where you met them. I bet you are just flat lieing. As usual.

The big guns aren't as prevalent as writers make them out to be

Harald Wolf publisher of his hunting trips in the Harti Times #23 has a article on old timers I think it's by Barry Jones who says that a lot of the writers of stories that report using big bore guns are just blabber that they really didn't use the 600 Nitros or the .500 N.E. in their stories. A good old .375 H&H .404 Jeffery, .416 rigby or the .425 Westley Richards did the trick.

I have several friends who have separated their shoulders and are know relying on smaller bore and better placement of bullets. If you don't place the first shot properly when hunting Cape Buffalo I don't care if you have a stinger missel your going to have trouble.

There are some African countries that won't issue a dangerous game permit for any caliber less than forty caliber.

Hey! CA Feral pigs that get to 500 + lbs have sent more than one guide/outfitter here in a six county area to ICU, I cut one SCI Silver 400+ feral boar up that we shot 4 times and we found 2 more bullets from previous hunters. I won't hunt pigs any longer with any thing less at least forty caliber.
