the 60+ makes and models of guns that I owned (many duplicates of ruger .22 autpistols, AR's, p35's, and especially 1911's, would cost me at least $25,000 and the ammo that I shot up, about 25k more, the 1000's of $ spend on long distance phone calls, books, mags, and travel, you get to save those, too.

Instead of trying every new gun that comes out, FIRST ask yourself, "does this new gun do anything better than the guns I now have? if so, WHAT? how MUCH better? will you be happy to sell or trade the old gun to get it? Can you get it used, and/or smith it yourself? Are you buying the most useful caliber or model of that gun, at the lowest cost/source? Can you get service/parts for it? can you testfire it before buying, (preferably for free, a lot of shooting, because a friend owns it? Can you go halvsies on the price with a buddy, so neither of you gets burned much, if it turns out bad?
