How many years ago was that. Take a look around you count how many indians and mestizos are wearing moccasins and sandals when they can afford good boots. You're so damn cheap that you'd duct tape chihuahua pelts to your feet for walking to save a dime. Not all of us are that stupid (or cheap).

don't discount good mocassin style boots. They are functional, and comfortable. They just are more expensive to make than modern footware. Plus, modern boots will out last mocassins by quite a bit.

But, there's nothing wrong with the right kind of mocassins for your terrain.

The Indians would wear out several pairs of mocassins per season. A lot of winter would be spent making new footwear.

I've done enough typing on this forum this morning. Here, check this link out for a cool solution.

I've heard of tire tread sandals. Now I know how to make them. Thanks.

Rika, a piece of personal experience.

You need 'bias ply' tires. That means no steel belted radials.

Look for trailer tires, ATV tires, some offroad tires, and many of the spare 'donut' tires found in a lot of compact cars.
