i just bought a new springfield 45 mil spec and was wandering if it could stand up to some of todays hotter factory loads any input would be helpfull

should be good for anyhting up to +P pressures. avoid the loads that mimic the .45 super or .451 Detonics top end loads. the government model doesnt have a supported chamber.

SOME of spld's 1911's have fully-

supported barrels, and it's a very minor smithing job to fit one. Advertise on Home Gunsmithing Forums, (Roderus Custom Gunworks) and someone will sell you such a barrel, for $50 or so. Any smith should fit it for you, for $50, or a bit less.

They LIE when they tell you .45 Super brass is ANY thicker than R-P .45 ACP brass, by the way.
