The USS Liberty was back in 1967, shortly after the USS Pueblo off of Korea, and the ship was attacked by Isreali air and naval forces with 37 USN personell KIA, and over 170 WIA. No investigation was forthcoming in a similar set of circumstances to the USS Stark in 1986, attacked by a Iraqui pilott flying a french Mirage, using a french Exocet sea skimmer.

Not hot off the press, but neither is the event that took place at Pearl Harbor 7DEC41. Those events, and others, should not be forgotten. When we, as a nation, start forgetting, covering up or making excuses for wrongs inflicted upon us, we will have completely lost our national identity. Then truly, the **** will go splat.

Mistakes DO happen.

I recall us shooting down an Iranian airliner in the gulf by mistake.

Doesn't make it any less important, but it doesn't mean that every single incident is a deliberate act of war either.

Make no mistake, Israel is our ally, as long as it coincides with their national best interests - they same can be said of all our allies. (with the exception of Canada - they've been massing their population within 100 miles of the US boarder for quite some time. The attack must be immanent :) )

The Israelis attacked the Liberty both with jets and with torpedo boats. The torpedo boats only quit firing when they ran out of torpedos and ammo for their .50cal machine guns.

It's come out that there was an Israeli helicopter en-route to land SF types on board to whack the rest of the crew and plant scuttling charges. They misunderstood an intercepted communique that made them think F4's were enroute from the USS America, so they backed off.

A distress call from the Liberty was received, and jets were launched, but Secretary of Defence Robert McNamara personally recalled the F4 Phantoms before they got there.

After strafing the survivors in the water, a patrol boat stole the last surviving life raft and it is now in an Israeli museum. Talk about gall.

The Israelis flew over the ship several times before attacking it in international waters, and the flag it was flying was extra big, so the official Israeli line that it was a 'mistake' is pure BS.

It was a move to try and bring the US into a war against Eygpt to take out Israel's #1 adversary.

The skipper was awarded the Congrssional Medal of Honor, the only time such an award was presented in a secret ceremony. He stayed at the helm while under fire, turning the ship to avoid incoming torpedos, saving the vessel.

The crew was debriefed and then threatened with Federal prison if they spoke at length about the attack, though many eventually did. Many years later Israel paid a few dollars to the widows and orphans and said that they were blameless and now owed nothing more to anyone over the matter.

The fact that the Liberty, a 400ft WWII era 'Liberty' class cargo ship converted into an electronics intellegence vessel, did not sink was stunning and something the Israelis were obviously not expecting.

It was hit with countless hundreds of rounds of .50 cal plus she was fired at with naval topedoes and rockets. The rockets punched holes in the ship and then the Israelis, for the first time in naval warfare, used air dropped napalm upon a ship at sea. The holes punched by the rockets allowed the napalm to flow into the ship.

After the attack, after the fires had been put out, they said that there was nowhere in the ship you could go where you could not see sunlight streaming in.

Since the Zionists NEVER forget any slight ever made against them, no matter how small, we should never forget a deadly ACT OF WAR made against the USA by Israel.
