With the onset of spring and the coming of summer, this is when I start taking all my gear and doing maintenance and repairs. Too many people wait until the last minute and find themselves scrambling to get stuff fixed or replaced prior to a hunt.

yesterday, for example, I set up my tent, checked the tarp I use as a foot print, inspected the poles, guy lines, and stakes. Only thing I needed to address was a small tear in the bag the tent packs into. Addressing it while it was small prevents it becoming big later. A small thing for sure, but it will add years to the life of the bag.

next, I’ll be going through my cook kit, my kill kit, and first aid gear (3 kits)

then, rifles and further load development, especially since my go to powders are hard to find right now.

bottom line, now is the time to start evaluating your gear, when you can take your time to address any deficiencies.

as in all things, your mileage may vary.
