Got back from deer camp late yesterday. Put the tripod together. Had to have a little help from a couple of the guys fitting the legs and then we got it upright. They were kind enough to help me with screwing the earth anchors into the ground (a tripod that high has a lot of wind resistance so you have to tie it down with cable so the wind won't blow it over). I love the tripod, sitting up there you have an excellent view of the area and the game won't even know you are there. Spent a lot of time clearing out the brush and scrub trees for shooting lanes. Most of my muscles are sore but I don't mind as I accomplished what had to be done. Such a good feeling.

Am going back to camp in a few minutes. The guys who helped me were cutting firewood for camp. I promised to return the favor and help them this morning. Might even get a little firewood for my camp.

Funny how you really learn about people when you work and sweat with them. The fact that I'm female never entered into things while we were together; I was just another hunter. The stag handled Ruger Blackhawk on my hip got the admiring glances and complimentary comments (it is a handsome beast). I'm carrying extra cartridges as they wanted to shoot it back at camp when we finish work and after lunch. No worry there as there are plenty of women and children around.

Sounds like you had a good day, wish I had! I had the absolute worst game of golf yesterday morning that I 've had this year! It improved though went to the range, got some practice in and set up the range for a match today. In about 90 minutes I'll be wandering around the range with my Vaquero on my hip. I'm going for the plaque for "Top Single Action". Wish me luck.

Spent the day inside, with wind and rain outside. Thoroughly miserable.

Screw it, when the area clears up, I'm taking a week for BOTH archery and frontstuffer season. I've had enough of this cooped up for months crap.

Oh yeah, back on topic. Glad you had fun RIKA. Funny how hard work and sweating doesn't bother a person as much when they're making camp as it does when they have to do it at work or something eh? Nice to see people actually getting out there and enjoying life and the wilderness.

As a matter fact, I did enter into the "Single Action Category" and I did take the plaque for top overall in that category. A word of advice, it is very difficult to shoot a match when your thong breaks ........................................................................................................................................................................................................ The thong on my holster broke during the second stage! An actual quote from a friend on that stage, "If your thong breaks, its obvious that your b*lls are to big" He had everybody present doubled up in laughter. Had a great time.

Yeaaay! I knew you would take it. I'm so glad for you. See. Talent wins and talk sits on the sidelines offering suggestions.

Suggestion: a broken thong distracts your competitors. (Just joking) :D

Congrats to Rika and to Garand, good work both of you. I just got home today after 9 days away, and 14 straight at work; no sweat so to speak but no rest for the weary either as I will be working straight through Friday. Hopefully I'll actually have next weekened off with a couple of leave days added in, and then I can have some fun sweating or at least scouting out some fine deer.
