his early Glaser ammo. 96 grs, 1850 fps,from the 8" long P35 Browning, confirmed on the Chrono of the LEAA testers. 725 ft lbs, in fact. Now THAT'S a pretty mean load,and it was probably achieved at the cost of 50,000 CUP. However, have you heard of it blowing up anyone's guns, hmm? Believe me, Cannon's detractors would LOVED to have spread such news. It never happened, because such pressures are NOT out of line for seldom-used, high performance ammo.

The REAL test is to go ahead to either blow a case,or bulge one badly, then back off onthe powder charge. how you THINK SAAMI and the reload manual writers came up with their "max" loads, hmm? they found the WEAKEST brass,MOST LAMEASSED gun that exist,in a given caliber, and the SECOND anything made their wussy asses NOTICE anything, THAT was the "max"load. NATO 9mm is perfectly safe in a POORLY supportive Beretta barrel, and NATO spec 9is WAY beyond "plus P" SAAMI specs. You can safetly, in a good gun like the P35, load the 9mm WAY hotter than the loading manuals claim.
with really lw bullets, the bullet starts moving a LOT easier, expanding the pressurized area of the chamber more, and faster, thus reducing pressures. Also, lighter bullets are normally SHORTER BULLETS, which means less of the bullet is in contact with the rifling. That means LESS friction, and further easing of pressures. It's YOU guys who "think" that pressures increase linearly, and nothing can be done about it. It's YOU guys who are stuck in the mud of old style, "heavy" bullets. it's YOU guys who are too cheap and lazy to make the sort of bullets I describe, and work up loads with them. I know for a FACT that what I say is correct. You just THINK that I'm wrong. You are too lazy to actually do the R and D necessary to find OUT.
u proved NOTHING. If you'd like to hold a 8" thick dog in front of your chest, and have me trip off a 70 gr, 3 segment prefrag 460 at it, 2300 fps, I'll be happy to let you "prove" that it won't penetrate the dog. :)

Guys are flat STUPID about this penetration thing. Arm first "hits' are MISSES, forget them and get REAL hits. From the front, 3" reaches the heart, 2" reaches the lung. From the side 7" reaches the heart, 1" reaches the lung. 8" of penetration in gelatin is PLENTY, because slugs penetrate at LEAST another 25% deeper in chest organs than they do in Jello.

Not ALL lw bullets are nothing but #12 birdshot, epoxy, plastic,or metal "dust", ya know. You can CLAIM bs "proof", but you are SCARED to try REAL proof. :) My solid tin Split Nose's rear segment is a full wadcutter shaped, 40 gr, and nose-heavy, (hollowbased) It has PLENTY of penetration. The 2 front sections get 6-8" of penetration in animals, and add a LOT of shock and tissue destruction. It's so superior to a jhp that there's really no comparison.
