the pistol "serve any useful purpose" as it does to learn the guitar well enough to be paid for playing it. :) You dont get paid to play guitar after working at it for 50 hours, so Jeff's "basic" pistol course must be just bs, eh? Yet he CLAIMS that half of its graduates are so good that"anyone who attacks them has probably committed inadvertent suicide". Bs, almost NOBODY can handle a sudden charge by a knifeman, standing start, from 5m away, if the 1911 is ccw'd under REALISTIC outer wear, and believe me, Jeff's basic course doesn't make you very fast at ALL. The half of the graduates who amount to much had a LOT of gun-experience, at least with longarms, BEFORE they ever saw GunSite, count on that. :)

DOJ annual Crime Survey says 65-75%

of all attacks are NOT committed with a gun. You better NOT shoot anybody beyond about 10 ft, if they don't have some sort of projectile weapon. If you do, the odds are pretty good you'll go to prison for having done so, and REALLY good that you will be sued (successfully) for every dime you have, or ever make.

Furthermore, the FBI'S Uniform Crime Report says that over HALF of the GUN attacks, on COPS, occur at less than 10 ft. Civilians are attacked at CLOSER ranges, on the average, too. So you can figure on 2/3rds of the 1/3rd of all attacks that ARE committed by a gun-armed person, and are JUSTIFIABLY resisted bya CIVILIAN, will be at 10 ft or less. probably 3/4 of such are at 15 ft or less. So you can be certain that 90% of the time, if you HAVE to fire, it will be at 15 ft or less. 95+% of the time, it will be at 20 ft or less, and only about 1% of the time, will you justifiably fire, as a civilian, beyond 30 ft.

No, slower fire, at longer ranges, does NOT make you faster at closer ranges, anymore than playing badminton makes you a champion Jai-alai player. The 2 are only REMOTELY the same sort of an exercise.

Nearly ALL of Jeff's Basic Course is wasted

on ranges WELL beyond the 10 ft limit of 80+% of what civilians can JUSTIFY having fired. All he's doing is setting you up to waste yet ANOTHER $2500 on the 'intermediate" course, and ANOTHER $2500 on the "Advanced' course. :)

guys who don't know who Cooper

is need to read up a LOT more on guns. :) A REALLY fast man can easily handle a charge from 5 yds, if he's focused on the attacker at the time. contrary to what guys claim, it takes 1.5 seconds to charge, standing start, from 5 yds, nearly 2 full seconds to do so from 7 yds. Irregardless, the firing will be a 1 handed point, at about 3-4 ft range, and a fast man can easily react, draw from a ccw belt rig and hit chest, at such a range, in 1 second flat, and some few can do so in .80 second.
