NJ (my home state) recently voted to allow bear hunting. The state plans to issue up to 10,000 permits to hunters who have passed a course on how to target bear. The hunt would take place in several of NJ counties during 6 days in December. Is anyone planning to hunt?
I'm not, but I think my brother-in-law is. I don't think I could do it. I don't have a problem with dear and turkey, but I don't know about bear. Any thoughts?

Ken,
Here in MI they give bear permits on a "point" system. Every time you apply you get a point. You have to rack up points to get a tag. One day I hope i get one! Although I have had bear meat a few times..nothing to write home about for sure. The best was bear BBQ and lots of Bud Light;) that seemed to make the bear better.

As for shooting one..I'd go with the "bigger the better" on this one. A nice big rifle in hand. Don't think I'd like a pissed off bear chasing me down! Although nothing beats a nice shoulder shot from a 7mm or a 300 mag....
