Here in MI they give bear permits on a "point" system. Every time you apply you get a point. You have to rack up points to get a tag. One day I hope i get one! Although I have had bear meat a few times..nothing to write home about for sure. The best was bear BBQ and lots of Bud Light
that seemed to make the bear better.
As for shooting one..I'd go with the "bigger the better" on this one. A nice big rifle in hand. Don't think I'd like a pissed off bear chasing me down! Although nothing beats a nice shoulder shot from a 7mm or a 300 mag....
