I would really like to make my own knife but don't have the equipment (or confidence) to grind my own blade. Anybody know of a company that sells really nice forged blades? What I would wish for is a Randall or custom maker type blade type.

Actually maybe my question should be: has anybody made a really nice knife from a kit. Knife making seems like a really nice and useful hobby.

Your comments are appreciated.

Wayne Goddard's "the $50 and Up Knife Shop" might interest you, too. He doesn't cover knife making from kits that I recall, but how to set up a small shop and forge the things from scrap.

Thanks Mike. Those Darrel Ralph Delta 5 blades are NICE! Will check out Texas Knifemakers and the other sites more carefully later this morning. It would be neat to have my own semi handmade knife.
