Hi all,
Here in Canada the Federal Government introduced mandatory gun regerstration for all Canadian Citizens. In the rural area that i live in, Prior to this legislation you could count on at least 1 hunting rifle per household.
People failed to try to fight this legislation when it was introduced, as a result we are unable to pass guns onto our children or grandchildren unless they show enough interest to go to the trouble to obtain a gun license. If u don't register your guns you are treated as a criminal.
Break and entering was rare because the crooks knew most people had firearms in their houses. Most of the break ins now occur when people are at home, this was a rarity in the past. I even know of people that had their house broke into and when they called the police there guns were confinscated because they were not registered. I'm not talking about handguns or assault rifles they are just regular hunting guns.
This legislation also give the police the right to search your house or car without a search warrant if they suspect you have firearms that arn't registered. This legislation would probably work if we could convince the crooks to register their guns.

So glogan what are you going to do about it? How about getting you ass to a polling station on Monday and showing the Liberals the door?

Only 2 provinces enforce the current legislation, guess which those are? The same friggin 2 that gave us over 10 years of Liberal government. I have heard of people being charged for minute excuses in Ontario and Quebec, but the rest of the police in the West generally go after real criminals. Registration was nothing but a smoke screen for "implimenting legislation". This could be transfered to searches for things like drugs, child porn, stolen goods, basicly a fishing expedition. If you want to take your chances with the current laws, then don't cry if you get arrested.

If we can get those ******* in Ontario and Quebec to get their friggin heads out of their a*s our dcountry will be better off. Remember the gun law boondoggle will be the first to go, along with Quebec ad agencies. I live in Alberta, in the rural areas no self respecting homeowner would have only 1 firearm. 6 is more like it. When Bill C68 went to parliment, how many letters to members of parliment did you write???

I wrote 815, how about you. This law was made in the east and the east should suffer for it! As for kids, my children have no interest in owning firearms as of many of my friend's children. It is a generational attitude. Remember Alberta government went to the Supreme court over the laws, did your province?

I live in New Brunswick, a small province between quebec and Nova Scotia. I didn't write letters to the extent that u did but did write a few and took part in protests as well. I feel that i didnt do enough to fight this, I guess that was the point i was trying to make.
Here it is up to the enforcement officer to decide on the course of action taken for a citizen with an un registered firearm. The RCMP always enforce it but if you are out hunting and a forest ranger finds that your gun isnt registered or you don't have a gun license they usually just give a warning. That is unless he is an asshole or u piss him off.
My children Enjoy hunting and are looking forward to having the firearms that have been passed down from generation to generation in our family.

Most (not all) police officers out here have a "live and let live" attitude toward shooters out here. Generally if you want to find a cop who will have a bad attitude towards firearms, it will be RCMP. After all Ottawa does control their career progression. How would you like to get posted to Climax, Saskatchewan if you screwd up in the eyes of your boss? Yes there is such a place. Our country is dictated to by 2 provinces, it is time we had electorial reform up here. You have an opportunity to make that happen on Monday, don't waste it.
