I have a JC Higgins .270 WIN model 50 583.95, action made in belgium. I was wondering if anyone knows were I can find info about this rifle, like the year it was made, value, etc.. or if anyone happens to know this information.

Thankyou

I'd see if my local library had, or could get from Interlibrary loan, a copy of Flayderman's guide to gun Values or the Gun Digest version of same. I might also call the NRA and Brownell's supply.

What you have there is an FN Mauser made for Sears. As for value, that would depend on the condition it is in, like new (100%) beat and abused bore shot out (20%). FN made a lot of those rifles that were sold under 'store brand' name and model number. I lost most of my library in a fireand the two I have left don't show the JC Higgins. That said, $125 up to maybe $325.
