Moreland lived like an animal, ate rancid food, had mental problems, lost most of his teeth, and could live on small amounts of food becuase he was scrawny and barely over 5ft tall.

He also had others to steal from to continue his bare, knife edge survival.

He didn't need a cabin of his own because in cold weather he would just use the one's built by the forest service and he would pillage the supply boxes for food like a racoon with a key.

When he couldn't get to a cabin, he was small enough to climb into a hollow log and crazy enough to tolerate it on a regular basis.

It was the fact that he was an ungrateful pig who always left everything trashed was why they tracked him down and caught him.

Oh yeah, he also used a sleeping bag (which he stole like absolutely everything else he had, even his clothes).
